NEW YORK -- Amare Stoudemire and J. Eli Harold Jersey .R. Smith are scheduled to play for the New York Knicks on Friday night in their final preseason game after working their way back from knee surgeries. Coach Mike Woodson says his top two reserves will each play about 10 minutes against the Charlotte Bobcats. Smith had patella tendon surgery and an arthroscopy on his left knee in July, the Knicks saying at the time he would miss 12 to 16 weeks. Stoudemires summer surgery was said to be minor, but it was his third in the last year. However, he says he is the "hardest worker in this league" and felt like that got his body ready. Smith, the Sixth Man of the Year, will have to miss his first five regular-season games after violating the NBAs anti-drug policy. Ian Williams Jersey . In a statement Friday, del Potro said he made the decision after talking with his coach and medical team. Argentina hosts Italy on Jan. 31-Feb. Bruce Ellington Jersey . - Even with his surgically repaired back still nowhere near perfect, defending champion Andy Murray needed only 73 minutes to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-1 at the Sony Open on Tuesday and set up a quarterfinal with Novak Djokovic.SEATTLE -- Learning that former Padres Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn had died completely changed Chris Youngs outlook on pitching against his former team. "I think any fun about pitching against them disappeared this morning with the news of Tony passing," the Mariners right-hander said after Seattles 5-1 win over San Diego on Monday night. "My condolences go out to his family, the Padres organization, the city of San Diego. He meant a lot to everyone there and Im grateful I had the opportunity to work with him and get to know him." The loss capped a sombre day for the Padres organization. Gwynn, 54, died Monday morning of oral cancer, a disease he attributed to years of chewing tobacco. "Even though were away from San Diego I think the Mariners did a good job of putting Tony out there," Padres manager Bud Black said. Kyle Seager hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Brad Miller added a solo shot, and Young threw six shutout innings against his former team. San Diego was on the verge of being shut out by Young (6-4) and a pair of relievers until Carlos Quentin hit a solo homer leading off the ninth. But Gwynn was on everyones mind at Safeco Field. Seattle honoured Gwynn with a video tribute and moment of silence before the game and put a 19 on the dirt in the hole between the shortstop and third baseman. Gwynn called that the "5.5 hole" and many of his 3,141 hits went through it. San Diego added black armbands to its uniform in honour of Gwynn, and his No. 19 jersey hung in the Padres dugout. His jersey also was scattered among fans in attendance. "He is the city of San Diego. You talk Padres baseball, Tony Gwynn is everything there," Young said. Seagers homer came on a 3-0 pitch from San Diego starter Tyson Ross (6-6). Coming off a 4-for-4 performance on Sunday, Seager was given the green light and hit his 10th homer of the season. Miller followed with a ssolo homer an inning later. Ahmad Brooks 49ers Jersey. . Robinson Cano added an RBI double as Seattle scored all five runs in the first two innings. Seager leads Seattle in home runs and has seven hits in his last 10 at-bats with six RBIs. James Jones also stole three bases and scored twice for Seattle. "Its a good feeling that the skipper has confidence in you, thats always good," Seager said. "In that situation I had seen a couple of pitches ... when you get the opportunity you have to make sure you capitalize and get a ball in the air. Young was once an All-Star for the Padres and has become a valuable acquisition since joining Seattle at the end of spring training. After losing his last two starts, Young gave up two hits in the first inning and then cruised. He retired 16 of the final 19 batters he faced, giving up a pair of singles and issuing one walk. He matched his season high with six strikeouts. Joe Beimel, who gave up the final home run in Gwynns career, pitched one inning of relief for Seattle. Tom Wilhelmsen then got the final six outs, but couldnt complete the shutout giving up Quentins third homer of the season. Ross had allowed only one homer in his previous six starts, but struggled all night. He walked a career-high seven and at least one in every inning. Ross pitched into the sixth inning and helped save the Padres bullpen. "My command wasnt very sharp tonight," Ross said. "I kind of grinded through some innings there and overall just wasnt in the strike zone early and often enough." NOTES: Young has now faced all 30 teams in the majors. ... Seattle hopes to send injured 1B Justin Smoak (quad) out on a rehab assignment Wednesday. Corey Hart (hamstring) and Michael Saunders (shoulder) could join Smoak on rehab assignments by the end of the week. ... In 11 career games against Seattle, Gwynn hit .261 (12 for 46) with three doubles and four RBIs. LONDON -- Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was charged by the English Football Association on Tuesday for making an abusive gesture toward Manchester City fans during a Premier League match. Cheap Ronnie Lott Jersey . Television cameras spotted the England international raising his middle finger in the direction of City supporters in the 69th minute of Saturdays game at Etihad Stadium, which Arsenal lost 6-3. The incident wasnt seen by match officials but the FA has charged Wilshere retrospectively "with making an offensive and/or insulting and/or abusive gesture" after a three-man panel studied video footage. "For an FA charge to follow, all three panel members must agree it is a sending-off offence," the governing body said in a statement. "In this instance, the panel were unanimous." Wilshere has until Wednesday to respond to the charge. He is facing a one-match ban, the punishment Liverpool striker Luis Suarez received for the same offence during a league game at Fulham in December 2011. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said after the City match that he didnt see Wilsheres gesture but added "if he did it, we will have to accept it." Arsenal has a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League over Liverpool and Chelsea. Womens Kenny Stabler Jersey .K. Subban in the final minute of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. "I obviously got caught up in the moment," Thornton said on an offday at the TD Garden. Karl Joseph Raiders Jersey . Each day, TSN.ca provides the latest rumours, reports and speculation from around the NHL beat. On The Block? According to thefourthperiod.com, the Carolina Hurricanes are looking to trade goaltender Cam Ward, who has a no-trade clause and must approve any deal.As Alex Kovalev has left the NHL for the KHL, firing shots at reporters and coach Cory Clouston this week, a conflicting picture gets painted over a player that played 1,302 games, scoring 428 goals and 1024 points (along with 45 goals and 100 points in 123 playoff games), won a Stanley Cup and was often regarded as the most talented player on virtually every team for which he played. Given those accomplishments, why would there be a downside to consider? In Kovalevs case, to some degree at least, its because he was cursed with superior talent. When a player has Kovalev-like talent, expectations are going to be astronomical and, when it comes to Kovalev specifically, its incongruous for fans to hear other NHL players talk in reverential tones about Kovalevs outrageous skill level, then see that in his last seven NHL seasons, he had three years in which he scored at least 65 points and four seasons in which he tallied fewer than 20 goals and 50 points. So, when David Perron (an elite stickhandler in his own right) and Mike Commodore came to Kovalevs defence on Twitter they, not surprisingly, met resistance from fans that havent consistently seen results commensurate with Kovalevs other-wordly skill. At the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference this year, there was a panel in which the topic of underachievers was discussed and NBA star Tracy McGradys name was brought up by both former coach (Jeff Van Gundy) and GM (Darryl Morey), as a phenomenally gifted player that could accomplish so much due to his skill level that he wasnt necessarily driven to work on other facets of his game and it may have caught up to him when the competition picked up (ie. the playoffs). Recently retired NFLer Randy Moss would hardly be considered an underachiever in the classic sense, but the common perception was that, as great as he was, scoring 153 touchdowns in his career, Moss could have been even better if he had the drive of Jerry Rice, for example. Some parallels might be drawn to Kovalev. Not that he struggled in the postseason; since 1990, his 45 playoff goals ranks 23rd in the league. But, as age caught up to Kovalev, like it catches up to all eventually, he couldnt just get by on being the most talented puckhandler on the ice and thhe results werent good. Dave Casper Jersey. Beyond the goal or point totals, though, the evidence that Kovalev was not a factor in his last two seasons could be found in shots on goal numbers. In 2009-2010, Kovalev managed 2.14 shots on goal per game (165 in 77 games) and followed up with a career-low 2.04 per game (151 in 74 games) last year after finishing with a miserable 1.40 per game (28 in 20 games) with Pittsburgh. At his peak, Kovalev was putting up nearly four shots on goal per game and even had 2.80 per game as recently as 2007-2008. That Kovalevs play declined in recent seasons is no indictment of his entire career, however. Many great players have seen dramatic drops in production as they hit the twilights of their careers, so Kovalev isnt necessarily any different in that regard. Where Kovalev tends to get burned in the court of public perception is that his talent suggested a player capable of being more dominant if he applied himself more consistently.  Fans see what Kovalev did for Montreal in 2007-2008, scoring 84 points in 82 games as a 34-year-old or a three-year stretch from 2000-2003 during which Kovalev scored 248 points in 224 games and wonder why there werent more of those electrifying seasons. The picture painted by Kovalevs talent is that he should have managed more than three point-per-game seasons in 18 NHL campaigns. Matthew Barnaby weighed in as well, complimenting Kovalev as the most skilled player he ever played with or watched, while suggesting that Kovalev might be the only 1,000 point scorer to be considered an underachiever. There have been and will most certainly be elite players that accomplish more in their careers than Alex Kovalev. Whether thats because those players are more driven, are in better situations or, in the rarest of cases, are more talented, Kovalev wont be considered among the all-time greats.  That can be the curse of superior talent. Great accomplishments, that only the tiniest percentage ever have a chance to achieve, are not enough when you have seemingly unlimited skills. ARLINGTON, Texas -- With one swing in the first inning, Nolan Arenado quickly took the drama out of whether he would match Colorados record hitting streak and set the Rockies up for another rout over Texas. Cheap Paxton Lynch Jersey . Arenados two-run double in the first extended his hitting streak to 27 games, matching teammate Michael Cuddyers record streak from last year. It also put Colorado ahead to stay on way to its third lopsided victory over the Rangers in as many nights, 9-2 on Wednesday. "Nolan is one of those guys thats really locked in right now, and it was good to see him get that hit in the first at-bat," manager Walt Weiss said. "I think that kind of set the tone." That was the first of three hits for Arenado, who is hitting .364 (39 of 107) in the streak that started a month ago Friday. His streak is the longest for anyone 23 years or younger since Albert Pujols had a 30-gamer in 2003 when he was 23. "Its pretty cool, pretty cool," Arenado said. "Im trying to stay within myself, Im not trying to get too big, or trying to hit the home run. Im just trying to hit the ball hard. Im going to keep on saying that until the year is over." Carlos Gonzalez homered for Colorado, which has outscored Texas 29-5 in three games this week. The Rockies won 8-2 and 12-1 at home with a combined 34 hits before the teams shifted to Texas for two games. "Weve got to ride this wave while its going good," said Weiss, whose teams 22 wins are tied for the most in the majors. Every starter had a hit for the Rockies, who finished with 16 and got 12 of them in 3 2-3 innings off Colby Lewis (2-2). Jorge De La Rosa (4-3) struck out four and walked three. The lefty gave up two runs over six innings while winning its fourth consecutive start. Adrian Beltre homered for Texas and became only the fifth player in major league history with 100 home runs for three different teams. After not getting a hit until his fifth plate appearance Tuesday night, Arenado wasted no time Wednesday. His double followed consecutive two-out hits by MLB-leading hitter Troy Tulowitzki (.414) and Gonzalez. Lewis got the first two batters out in each of the first three innings before allowing multiple hits each time. But the Rockies failed to score in the second and again in the third, when Arenado was tagged out halfway between third and home by first baseman Prince Fielder after Colorado had two runners caught between bases. The last nine batters faced by Lewis had six singles in a row and consecutive sacrifice flies by Corey Dickerson and Tulowitzki before Gonzalez homered, his seventh of the season capping a five-run fourth to make it 7-0. Lewis had allowed 12 hits twice before, including against Colorado at home two years ago. "I got beat. Thats all there is to it," Lewis said. "I think Colorado just needs to leave town." Colorado had 13 hits before Texas finally got Michael Choices one-out single in the fourth. Beltre followed with his homer to straightaway centre, his second this season after hitting the first a night earlier. Beltre, in his fourth season with Texas, previously hit 147 homers for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1998-2004) and 103 homers for Seattle (2005-09). The other players with 100 homers for three different teams are Darrell Evans (Atlanta, San Francisco and Detroit), Reggie Jackson (Kansas City/Oakland, New York Yankees, California), Alex Rodriguez (Seattle, Texas and Yankees) and Jim Thome (Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago White Sox). Scott Baker, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock earlier Wednesday, pitched the final 5 1-3 innings for Texas. It was only Bakers fifth relief appearance in 167 career major league games, most with the Minnesota Twins from 2005-11 before the right-hander had Tommy John surgery in April 2012. He made three starts for the Chicago Cubs last September. "He came in and gave us a chance," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He settled in and started getting some outs, but we wasnt able to get to them." NOTES: Rangers 2B Donnie Murphy left the game with a neck strain after tripping over first base trying to beat out a grounder to end the sixth. ... Colorado throws another lefty Thursday in Franklin Morales (3-1, 5.05 ERA). Weiss said Morales is finding his rhythm as a starter again after being a reliever the past 5 years. Colorado has won his last four starts after losing his first two. Cheap John Elway Jersey . Carlos Boozer had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and the Bulls snapped the Phoenix Suns five-game winning streak with a 101-92 victory on Tuesday night.Terrell Davis Broncos Jersey . Plekanec scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season to help lead the Canadiens to a 5-4 road victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. The Canadiens take on the Panthers on Saturday.Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Monta Ellis led six Mavericks in double figures with 20 points and Dallas smoked the Washington Wizards 114-87 on Tuesday. Chandler Parsons, Charlie Villanueva and Richard Jefferson all scored 14 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 13 for Dallas, which completed a 3-0 homestand. The Mavericks, who own the leagues best offense, have scored at least 102 points in five straight games. John Wall came back to Earth with 11 points and eight assists -- a good game but average by his recent standards -- as Washingtons three-game win streak came to a screeching halt. Wall finished December with 10 double-doubles in 16 games, and the Wizards end the month with a 12-4 record. They just beat us - in every phase of the game they were better than us tonight, and turnovers obviously being the biggest part - 33 to 6 in points off turnovers, Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. Dallas led by as many as seven in the first quarter, but Walls running bank shot cut the margin to 27-24 after one. Despite a 6-0 run being Dallas largest spurt of the second, it built an 18- point lead thanks to thhe hot shooting of Ellis and Jefferson. Paxton Lynch Jersey. The duo combined for 21 points -- matching Washington -- in the stanza on 8-for-9 shooting. Dallas made 13-for-20 attempts as a team and led 63-45 at halftime. The Mavericks outscored Washington in each of the last two quarters as well to complete the rout. We made a point of getting out of the locker room early to make sure we could go out and get ourselves loose and get ready to go, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. Third quarters are big, especially when you have a lead - you want to continue the momentum. The guys did a good job there. Washington was tired. They had an emotional win last night, so we took advantage of that. This is a quality win for us and weve just got to keep building on it. Game Notes Mavericks center Tyson Chandler returned from back spasms and grabbed a game- high 12 rebounds ... All 13 active Mavericks scored at least two points ... Washington had won four straight away from home ... Wizards wing Martell Webster made his season debut and scored three points on 0-of-4 shooting in 14 minutes. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

OTTAWA -- With a clean short program, capped off by an exuberant jump at the end, Kaetlyn Osmond put the past four frustrating months behind her. Teddy Bridgewater Vikings Jersey . The 18-year-old from Marystown, N.L., is halfway to clinching her spot on Canadas figure skating team for the Sochi Olympics, winning the womens singles short program at the Canadian championships Friday. Osmond was sidelined for a good chunk of the last four months, with first an ankle injury and then a torn hamstring, and admitted to wondering at times if shed make it back in time for Sochi. "I have this little jump at the end of my program and I think I put more energy into that little half jump than I did into my entire program because I was so excited," Osmond said, laughing. "And when I went to do my curtsy, I couldnt help but be relieved." Osmond landed a triple flip-triple toe loop combination, then a triple Lutz to score 70.3 points for her 60s-inspired performance to "Big Spender" and "Rich Mans Frug." Amelie Lacoste of Delson, Que., scored 61.27 to leave her second heading into Saturdays free program. Gabrielle Daleman, a 15-year-old from Newmarket, Ont., is third with 58.38. Canada has two berths in womens singles for the Sochi Olympics. The Olympic figure skating team will be announced Sunday. Osmond, who was eighth in her world championship debut last year, suffered a stress reaction in August, and then tore her hamstring during the short program at Skate Canada in October, forcing her to withdraw before the free skate. Her treatment included a cortisone shot and platelet-rich plasma treatment -- the injection of platelet-rich blood into an injury (three-time world champion Patrick Chan had PRP for a calf injury prior to the Vancouver Olympics). She was off the ice for more than two weeks, and it was several weeks before she was back to doing jumps and spins. "When I got back on the ice I could barely do my crosscuts still, so I had to work so many edges and so many stroking exercises before I could even think about jumping," Osmond said. "It was really hard during those times to even think that Nationals was coming up, time was going so fast, and I was still not even on the ice." Osmond has only one full competition under her belt this season -- Skate Canada Challenge, a qualifying for nationals last month in Regina that she won. "The only thing thats missing is the competition experience and the momentum, and this is going to help her so much," said her Edmonton-based coach Ravi Walia. Osmond has come to look at the last few frustrating months as a blessing in disguise. "I learned so much from it," she said. "It actually helped my training because it hurt to fall (after the hamstring injury), so I had to learn perfect technique. It hurt when I did the wrong technique because my leg would swing out to the side too much. So in a way its a good thing." Womens Anthony Barr Jersey .J. -- Marshawn Lynch said Thursday it will be good to get back to football after the Seattle quiet talking running back wrapped up his final mandatory media session of Super Bowl week. Womens Stefon Diggs Jersey . Coach Larry Drew announced before the teams game Monday night against the Boston Celtics that he was told earlier in the day that Sanders was injured when he was elbowed in the right eye by Houstons James Harden as the two went for a rebound early in Saturday nights game.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Josh Beckett has pitched his home games in Los Angeles for almost two years now, and hed almost forgotten what it was like to sit through a rain delay. He handled this one with no problem The right-hander waited more than 2 hours to make his start Tuesday night, but once he got on the mound, he was on top of his game. Beckett allowed two hits in six shutout innings, Hanley Ramirez hit a two-run single and the Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-1. "Sitting around today was tough," the 34-year-old Beckett said. "Im not 23 anymore. I was ready to go at 7:10. I spent a lot of time in the weight room trying to stay loose. I felt fine." Beckett (4-3), who had endured two consecutive 2-1 losses since his no-hitter May 25 in Philadelphia, finished with seven strikeouts and one walk. He also hit a batter with a pitch. "Actually, I felt like it was his cleanest game since the no-hitter," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "The ball was coming out better. He had a better changeup, and he kept the ball down." Beckett echoed Mattinglys assessment. "I felt like it was a clean outing," he said. He also enjoyed better support from his offence, which scored more runs in one inning than it had in his previous two starts combined. Yasiel Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier and Justin Turner led the Los Angeles lineup with two hits apiece. Beckett got into the act with a single of his own for the Dodgers, who have won three straight and four of five. "Joshs performance today is what hes been giving us all year," Ethier said. "We havent been producing many runs for him." Mike Leake, reached for a season-high five runs in his previous start Thursday against San Francisco, allowed five more and a season-high nine hits in 5 1-3 innings. Leake (3-6), who lost seven games last season, had seven strikeouts and one walk. "It was a weird night," said Leake, bothered by a stiff neck in his previous three starts. "I missed some spots. I got some groundballs, but they found holes. I didnt do my job today." Reds first baseman Joey Votto, aactivated from the 15-day disabled list before the game after missing 23 games with a strained quadriceps in his left knee, went 1 for 3 with a single, two strikeouts and a walk. Womens Laquon Treadwell Jersey. After the start was delayed by rain for 2 hours, 5 minutes, the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the second on Gonzalezs leadoff double and Ethiers one-out double. Beckett helped himself in a three-run fifth after Turner led off with a single. With one out, the pitcher faked a bunt and hit a chopper over charging third baseman Todd Frazier for his third hit in 23 at-bats this season. "I saw him charging," Beckett said. "He was playing so shallow already. I took a shot." Turner scored on Dee Gordons double, and Ramirez drove in both runners with a single to right field. That pretty much gave Los Angeles control. The largest deficit overcome by the Reds to win this season is two runs. Cincinnati manager Bryan Price was impressed with the Dodgers approach. "They did a nice job of putting the ball in play," Price said. "They ran some balls through the infield. They had enough team speed to get some good reads off the bat and score off that line drive to right." Los Angeles added a run in the sixth on Matt Kemps one-out walk and back-to-back singles by Ethier and Turner, who has four consecutive multihit games. Puig singled, stole second and scored on Gonzalezs second double in the seventh. Ethier is hitting .467 (7 for 15) with six RBIs against Leake. The Reds avoided being shut out on Jay Bruces leadoff double, Devin Mesoracos infield single and Zack Cozarts one-out RBI single in the seventh. Mesoraco snapped a career-worst, 0-for-19 slump. NOTES: Cozart stayed in the game after being hit in the batting helmet by Becketts pitch in the fifth. ... Ethiers sixth-inning infield single originally was ruled an out, but Mattinglys challenge led to the call being overturned after a replay review. ... So if the return was up to a certain point and not great and we then decide we want to talk to them about staying, then thats an option too.” The Sabres are rich in draft picks already, owning nine picks over the first two rounds of the next two drafts. Buffalo also selected two players in the first round of both the 2012 and 2013 drafts. Devils Wings The New Jersey Devils, who enter Sunday just a point out of the final wild card playoff berth in the Eastern Conference, will likely be looking for a complementary forward for their big guns in their chase for the post-season. Jaromir Jagr is on pace for his best season since returning from KHL exile in 2011-12, but Devils coach Peter DeBoer is looking for answers on first-line centre Travis Zajacs other wing and it could be left to Devils GM Lou Lamoriello to find a solution. “Its critical for us. We really like the chemistry on three of the four lines right now. And I like Zajac and Jagr together. We have to find a piece with them. Weve tried some different guys. Josefson will get a chance tomorrow. Well keep trying. Taking a Flyer? Philadelphia has lost seven of its last nine, leading the Philadelphia Inquirer to wonder if the team can keep pace in the Metropolitan Division or if a sell-off is lying in wait. The coming Olympic break may offer salvation in the form of a forced refreshment period, but if it doesnt Philly may be forced to move – by addition or subtraction – in a hurry once trade business opens back up post-Sochi. Meanwhile, the Boston Globe speculates that if the Flyers go into sell mode, Andrej Meszaros could make a handsome fit on the Bruins blue line with Dennis Seidenberg out for the year. Cheap Vincent Jackson Jersey .C. -- Mallory Blackwelder won the Symetra Classic on Saturday for her first Symetra Tour title, closing with a 5-under 67 for a two-stroke victory. Vincent Jackson Jersey . CLEVELAND -- The Kansas City Royals needed a big hit. Jared Goff Jersey . Mike Moustakas delivered it in an 8-2 win Tuesday night over the Cleveland Indians. Moustakas three-run homer was the key blow in a four-run fourth inning as the Royals raised their record to 10-0 when scoring at least four runs. The burst was more than enough for James Shields (2-2), who allowed two runs and struck out nine in six innings in winning his second straight start. "Moose drove one in the seats," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "It was good to see to get on the board like that." "Thats huge," said Shields, who has 21 strikeouts in his last two starts. "Were down 1-0 right there. Moose put a good swing on it and got us the lead." Yost knew his team was in good shape with his ace in charge. "Youve got James Shields on the mound throwing his usual game," Yost said. "Nine punch-outs and combine that with what he did his last start, thats pretty impressive work." Eric Hosmer had four hits, including an RBI double in the seventh. "I really didnt have my best stuff, but I located my fastball when I needed to and I got some early outs," Shields said. "Overall, it was a good outing." Cleveland manager Terry Francona turned 55 years old Tuesday, but the Indians were unable to win a third straight game for the first time this season. "Unfortunately, Shields is pretty much the same every time we see him. With his command and aggressiveness, hes one of the best," Francona said. Danny Salazar (0-3) didnt allow a hit until the fourth, but unraveled quickly when Hosmer led off with a single, the first of five hits in the inning. Billy Butler followed with another single before Salazar retired the next two hitters. Moustakas drove a 1-1 pitch into Kansas Citys bullpen in right field, breaking a 2 for 15 slump. Alcides Escobar followed with another single, stole second and went to third on catcher Yan Gomes throwing error. Jarrod Dysons bunt hit made it 4-1. Salazar didnt get through the fifth. Hosmer doubled with one out and scored on Butlers double. Hosmer was 4 for 5. His seventh-inning double gave Kansas City a four-run lead and he added a single in the ninth. "After that big swing from Moose, it loosened everybody up," Hosmer said. "We know anytime Shields is on the mound its not going to take very many runs to get a win." Salazar, who pitched well in 10 starts after being called up last season, hasnt been able to find the same consistency in his first four starts. The right-hander allowed five runs and seven hits in 4 1-3 innings. He struck out six. Shields allowed an unearned run in the second, but held the Indians in check until the sixth. Bourns bases-loaded single put Cleveland ahead. Second baseman Omar Infantes fielding error on Asdrubal Cabreras ground ball started the rally. David Murphy singled and Lonnie Chisenhall was hit by a pitch with two outs. Bourns sharp single to right scored Cabrera. Royals catcher Salvador Perez was 0 for 5 and is hitless in his last 22 at-bats. Cleveland third baseman Carlos Santana is in a 2 for 43 skid after going hitless in four at-bats. The game-time temperature was announced at 50 degrees, but a strong wind made it feel much colder. The crowd of 8,848 barely surpassed the all-time low at Progressive Field of 8,726. NOTES: Royals 1B coach Rusty Kuntz, who suffered a broken left arm during batting practice Monday, will undergo surgery Wednesday at Cleveland Clinic. Kuntz was struck by a line drive hit by Perez. Major league coach Mike Jirschele will fill in for Kuntz for at least the remainder of the series. ... The squirrel that ran on the field during Mondays game brought back memories for Francona when he was managing winter ball in the Dominican Republic. "It was about 15 minutes before the game and there was a goat, a dog and a chicken in centre field," he said. Francona said the intruders were removed by the time the game began. ... Royals LHP Jason Vargas (2-0) faces Indians RHP Justin Masterson (0-0) in the third game of the four-game set Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Trumaine Johnson Rams Jersey .S. Open. Paes, of India, and Stepanek, of the Czech Republic, knocked out the Bryan brothers in a three-set semifinal to deny the Americans the chance to become the first mens doubles team in 62 years to win all four majors in the same year. Tavon Austin Jersey . Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hey Kerry, Love the column, read every one. To get right to the point, why was Dennis Seidenbergs elbow to the head of Bobby Ryan on Friday night not even clued for a hearing? Ryan was clear shaken up on the play and did not return to the game. In my eyes, Seidenberg reached out to make contact and, intentional or not, caught Ryan right in the head. Some of whom I have spoken to said Ryan appeared to sell it a little, but even if so, it deserves a review, right? I mean, he didnt come back for a reason. Thanks Kerry,Jacob Messing Jacob: Given the number of suspensions handed out by the Player Safety Committee for illegal contact to the head and dangerous hits, I can appreciate why you might feel this play should have resulted in a formal hearing. I can assure you that the committee did review the play from all angles and determined the elbow delivered to the chin of Bobby Ryan did not warrant special attention. In this instance, I concur with their finding. Let me share some of the reasons why. While Bobby Ryan was shaken up on the play we do not know to what extent. With just 3:25 remaining and the Sens ahead by a score of 4-2, it would make little sense for Ryan to return to the game even if he was capable. Following contact to the head of this nature, NHL protocol would require that Ryan be evaluated by the medical staff which woould also prevent his return prior to the expiration of regulation time. Marshall Faulk Rams Jersey. On the play it appears that Dennis Seidenberg was setting up and prepared to engage Bobby Ryan with body to body contact. Ryan altered his body posture and position when he initiated a stopping motion and pulled back to avoid or minimize contact. Seidenberg countered Ryans altered posture with an extended hand and elbow at the last second resulting in a glancing blow to Bobby Ryans chin. Seidenberg also looked away from his opponent as he extended to make contact. Following the contact, Bobby Ryan did have some spring in his legs as he jumped backward and fell to the ice.  This reaction might give the impression some embellishment took place. There was sufficient impact to Ryans chin from the glancing blow however that created a "whip-lash" action and stunned the Ottawa star so I would not want to suggest that Bobby Ryan was simply trying to sell the call. I see this as an illegal attempt by Dennis Seidenberg to make himself bigger and to initiate contact a split second after Bobby Ryan altered his posture. I do not see it as a deliberate attempt by Seidenberg to injure Bobby Ryan with the use of his elbow. This was clearly a missed elbowing penalty by the referee. As a result of the apparent injury sustained to the head of Bobby Ryan, a major penalty and automatic game misconduct should have been assessed to Dennis Seidenberg of the Boston Bruins.  Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Ed note: The Whitecaps formally introduced Carl Robinson as their new head coach Monday, December 16. Cheap Jordy Nelson Jersey . The Vancouver Whitecaps have found a replacement for head coach Martin Rennie, who was fired at the end of the 2013 MLS season. And they didnt have to look very far. Rennies former assistant coach, Carl Robinson, will be officially announced as Vancouvers new head coach on Monday, bringing an end to the clubs six-week search for Rennies replacement. This will be Robinsons first job as a head coach after serving the past two seasons as an assistant coach in Vancouver. I knew Robinson as a player when we were on opposite sides of the Old Farm derby in England; I played for Ipswich Town, while Robinson played for our biggest rivals, Norwich City. He was a difficult opponent to play against, and someone who was clearly a leader on and off the field. He never suffered fools and was never afraid to call someone out if they werent performing up to the required standards. He had a very strong tactical understanding of the game as a player, and the fact that he has taken this and other leadership skills into his career as a coach is not a surprise. Robinson didnt jump straight into a head coaching position after calling time on his playing career, though. It was a transition he took gradually, taking the time to educate himself and gain experience as an assistant coach first. He holds the UEFA Pro license - the highest coaching license awarded by Europes governing body. One of Robinsons strengths as a coach is his conviction; he has a clear philosophy about how he wants the game to be played and he believes in his coaching ability. He is, however, open-minded; he is the first to admit that he still has a great deal to learn. Robinson relates very well to younger players, something that will be important for the Whitecaps, who have stated their desire to see more young players graduate from their academy to their first team. Players like Russell Teibert have already made that breakthrough, but others - like Sam Adekugbe, Bryce Alderson, Marco Bustos and Kianz Froese - are expected to do the same in years to come. Critics will argue that being the head coach requires a different approach to being an assistant, that you sometimes need to be ruthless with players when you are the man in charge. They will suggest that Robinson might have a difficult time making the transition from being someone the players look to as a friend to being someone who now holds their professional aspirations in his hands. Those critics dont know Robinson very well, though. He wont change the way he interacts with the players - because he wont have to. He has always been a straight talker, and even as an assistant coach was never afraid to offer players praise or constructive criticism, depending on what was required. This is one of the reasons that so many Whitecaps players wanted Robinson as Rennies replacement in the first place - he is honest with them. As a player, more than anything you want your coach to be honest with you. If you know where you stand, what you need to do to get in the first team and what you need to do to stay there, youre happy. Because playing time is the currency that means the most to players. There wont be any mind games with Robinson. Players wont be strung along, taken advantage of or treated poorly. Every player will know exactly where they stand with him, and those that arent pulling their weight will know what areas of their game they need to improve to warrant more playing time. He wont keep everyone happy (no coach ever does) but the players will get nothing but honesty from Robinson, which means he will earn their respect. Critics will suggest that Robinson was third or fourth choice for the Whitecaps, that Bob Bradley and Jason Kreis were always their preferred options, and that Robinson is simply the best of the rest. Those critics might be right - but that doesnt mean the Whitecaps have made the wrong decision hiring Robinson. In fact, I think it is a blessing in disguise and might just be the best decision theyve ever made. Cheap Ray Nitschke Jersey . - Eries top line of Dane Fox, Connor Brown and Connor McDavid combined for six goals and 14 points as the Otters crushed the visiting Windsor Spitfires 9-0 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play. Ray Nitschke Packers Jersey . But given Bumgarners success the last few years, he said I dont think there was any question who you pitch that game. Here is the NFLs playoff checklist:New England Patriots, in as AFC East champions;Denver Broncos, in as AFC West winners;Indianapolis Colts, in as AFC South champs;Arizona Cardinals, in as NFC representative. Those were the post-season manifestations of Sundays on-field action — although the Cardinals didnt even play. The weeks action began with the NFC West leaders 12-6 victory at St. Louis (6-8) on Thursday night, and when Dallas beat Philadelphia 38-27 on Sunday night, the Cardinals owned at least a wild card.Mondays game has New Orleans (5-8, but in position to lead the NFC South) at Chicago (5-8).Patriots 41, Dolphins 13New England clinched the AFC East title for the sixth straight season, with Tom Brady throwing two touchdown passes in a big third quarter.Leading 14-13 at halftime, the Patriots scored on four consecutive series while piling up 24 points, the most in any third period in team history.New England (11-3, but now 7-0 at home) can secure home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs by beating the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. Its good to go in there and finish them off like we did, Brady said.Miami (7-7) saw its slim post-season hopes dwindle further.Itll probably take a miracle to get into the playoffs, Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace said.Broncos 22, Chargers 10At San Diego, the Broncos took a fourth successive division crown even though Peyton Manning played through a thigh injury and flu-like symptoms.Connor Barth kicked five field goals, and Denvers 12th straight division road win tied San Franciscos NFL record set from 1987-90.Manning came out of the game late in the second quarter. He returned for the start of the third and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas to give the Broncos a 16-3 lead.We were unsure at halftime to be honest with you, until Peyton made the cavalry entrance there at the start of the third quarter, coach John Fox said. I think its a tribute to the kind of toughness Peyton has and the kind of competitor he is that he got up and did a tremendous job in those conditions. The Broncos (11-3) won their fourth straight game. The Chargers (8-6) have lost two straight.Colts 17, Texans 10At Indianapolis, Andrew Luck threw two touchdown passes and Indianapolis won its second straight AFC South title. The Colts (10-4) have won four games in a row.Luck was 18 of 34 for 187 yards and one interception on the same day Reggie Wayne passed Peyton Manning for the most games and wins in franchise history. Wayne has played in 209 games, winning 142.This never gets old. This feeling never gets old, Wayne said, referring to the division title as he downplayed the milestones. At training camp we made some goals. Taking care of the division was our first goal so we were able to check that one off.Houston (7-7) lost starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a left leg injury in the second quarter. Rookie Tom Savage replaced Fitzpatrick and was ineffective, going 10 of 19 for 127 yards.Cowboys 38, Eagles 27At Philadelphia, Dez Bryant had a career-best three touchdown receptions.DeMarco Murray had a pair of TD runs to help the Cowboys (10-4) move ahead of the Eagles (9-5) into first place in the NFC East. The Eagles dominated the Cowboys in a 33-10 road win on Thanksgiving, but Dallas seized control of the division with two weeks left. The Cowboys jumped to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter before Philadelphia rallied. Chris Polk had TD runs of 1 and 5 yards, and Darren Sproles ran in from the 1 to give the Eagles a 24-21 lead late in third quarter. But Tony Romo and the Cowboys answered quickly with two touchdowns in a span of 2:51.Bengals 30, Browns 0At Cleveland, the debut of Johnny Football was a monumental flop.Rookie QB Johnny Manziel failed to live up to the overwhelming buildup surrounding his debut as the AFC North-leading Bengals (9-4-1) built a 20-point halftime lead and rolled to their fourth straight road win. Bengals rookie Jeremy Hill rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals got their first shutout since Dec. 21, 2008, in Cleveland.Manziel, promoted over the slumping Brian Hoyer to spark the Browns (7-7), finished 10 of 18 for 80 yards and two interceptions. He was sacked three times, and had Bengals players imitating his signature money-rubbing gesture more than once.It was tough, Manziel said. I need to be better. Its tough to come out and there and lay an egg like that and I put that on me. Im not using the rookie excuse. Its not me. I needed to play better.Bills 31, Packers 13Bacarri Rambo intercepted two Aaron Rodgers passes and Marcus Thigpen scored on a 75-yard punt return.Defensive end Mario Williams also forced Rodgers to fumble, which led to running back Eddie Lacy being tackled in the end zone for a safety with 1:51 left. Dan Carpenter hit all three of his field goal attempts, including a 51-yarder in the second half, to help keep host Buffalo (8-6) in the AFC playoff picture. The Packers (10-4) had won five in a row. Rodgers fiinished 17 of 42 for 185 yards with two interceptions. Cheap Randall Cobb Jersey. Seahawks 17, 49ers 7At Seattle, Marshawn Lynch rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, Russell Wilson threw a touchdown pass to rookie Paul Richardson, and the Seahawks knocked rival San Francisco from playoff contention. After a sluggish, sloppy first half, Seattle (10-4) awoke in the final 30 minutes behind the running of Lynch and a defence that shut down the 49ers. Colin Kaepernick was sacked six times and the 49ers didnt run a play past the Seattle 38 in the second half. The loss and Detroits win eliminated San Francisco (7-7) from contention.Lions 16, Vikings 14At Detroit, Matt Praters 33-yard field goal with 3:38 remaining lifted the Lions into a tie for first place in the NFC North with the Packers. The Lions (10-4) didnt have an easy time, spotting the Vikings (6-8) a 14-0 lead before a pair of second-quarter interceptions helped the Lions start their rally.Even at the end, Detroit had to sweat out a 68-yard field goal attempt by Minnesotas Blair Walsh on the games final play. The kick was short.Steelers 27, Falcons 20At Atlanta, Ben Roethlisberger threw for 360 yards and William Gay returned an interception for a touchdown. The Steelers (9-5) remained a half-game behind Cincinnati in the AFC North with their second straight win.The Falcons (5-9) ensured themselves of a losing season but will win the NFC South by sweeping their final two games, against New Orleans and Carolina.Pittsburgh led 13-0 after Gay picked off Matt Ryans pass over the middle on the first play of the second quarter, returning it 52 yards. The Steelers extended the lead to 27-13 with LeVeon Bells 1-yard run in the opening minute of the fourth period.Ravens 20, Jaguars 12At Baltimore, the Ravens sacked rookie Blake Bortles eight times and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.Baltimore (9-5) scored just once with its offence on the field. The last was a 70-yard throw from Smith to Davis, who had taken over the majority of running back duties after Jamaal Charles took a shot to the head.Charles passed concussion testing and returned briefly to the game.Giants 24, Redskins 13Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes to rookie Odell Beckham Jr. and the host Giants took advantage of an overturned touchdown at the end of the half.Manning and Beckham connected 12 times for 143 yards, with touchdown passes covering 10, 35 and 6 yards. The win was the second straight for the Giants (5-9) after seven consecutive losses. The Redskins (3-11) blew a touchdown and command of the game on a fumble by Robert Griffin III as time expired at the end of the first half. Griffin scrambled for an apparent 8-yard touchdown and a 17-7 lead, diving over the pylon, and then running on to the field and spiking the ball with emphasis.A video review by referee Jeff Triplette determined that Griffin lost control of the ball diving over the pylon and the play was ruled a touchback. The call incensed veteran receiver Santana Moss so much that he bumped an official while arguing and was ejected. Instead of a 10-point lead, the Redskins led 10-7.Jets 16, Titans 11At Nashville, Chris Ivory scored on a 1-yard run with 3:09 left in a game marked by a brawl between two of the NFLs worst teams. The Jets (3-11) got their first road win in the first NFL game to end with a 16-11 score. VALENCIA, Spain -- David Barral came off the bench to score two headers and give Levante a 2-1 win at home over Elche on Friday, ending its four-game losing streak in the Spanish league. Emmanuel Sanders Jersey . Levante, which had lost five straight including a Copa del Rey game last weekend, fell behind at its Ciutat de Valencia stadium when Ionut Sapanura opened the scoring for Elche in the 26th minute. But Barral replaced injured striker Baba Diawara in the 38th and three minutes later levelled by expertly nodding in Nabil El Zhars cross. Levante pressed the visitors into their area in the second half, and Elche goalkeeper Antonio "Tono" Rodriguez had to push Nikolas Karabelas shot onto his crossbar in the 66th. But Tono was helpless to stop Barral from thumping in the 80th-minute winner when Pedro Rios picked him out charging unmarked through the box with a well-placed cross. It was Levantes first victory since Oct. 26. Both sides remained in the middle of the standings. "This is a huge boost for us considering the negative streak we were on," Barral said. The former Sporting Gijon player added that with 20 points, Levante was halfway to its goal of finishing the season with 40, the minimum it believes necessary to avoid relegation.
