Reuben Foster has rejoined the 49ers Mackensie Alexander Jersey , reporting to the team’s training complex Thursday.

The linebacker had stayed away from the 49ers鈥?offseason work since domestic violence charges were filed in April, with the team waiting for the case to play out in court.

California Superior Court Judge Nona Klippen ruled Wednesday that insufficient evidence exists to proceed with domestic violence charges against Foster. The judge also reduced a charge of possession of an assault weapon to a misdemeanor, scheduling a pre-trial hearing for June 6.

Foster’s ex-girlfriend recanted accusations against him in a hearing last week.

Foster Terence Newman Jersey , 24, still faces a marijuana possession charge from his January 12 arrest in Alabama, with a court date scheduled for June 20. He is subject to league discipline for that arrest under the NFL鈥檚 substances of abuse policy.

Former Washington Redskins and New York Giants defensive lineman Barry Cofield was arrested in an Orlando suburb after falling asleep at the wheel of his car Cody Latimer Jersey , fleeing police and being found with heroin in his possession.

According to Michael Williams of the Orlando Sentinel, Cofield was found passed out at the wheel of his SUV in Lake Mary, Fla. with his foot on the brake of the vehicle and the stoplight having run several cycles without the car moving. After being awaken Chandler Catanzaro Jersey , Cofield slammed the accelerator led police in a pursuit that concluded with Cofield ramming a police car as it attempted to block him in.

He was taken into custody and officers found two bags in his pocket containing a red powdered substance that tested positive for heroin. He also failed to submit to field sobriety tests.

Cofield has been charged with heroin possession, fleeing and eluding, and aggravated assault of a police officer.

Cofield hasn’t played in the NFL since being released by the Giants in 2015. He spent 10 years in the league with the Giants and Redskins after being a fourth-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Cofield appeared in 138 career games Adrian Peterson Jersey , recording 310 tackles with 19.5 sacks. He was a member of the Giants team that won Super Bowl XLII in Feb. 2008.

The Buccaneers face a question as to whether Jameis Winston is their quarterback of the future. They know Bryan Anger Jersey , though, that he’s not their quarterback for the immediate future.

Winston will serve a three-game suspension, missing games at New Orleans and at home against Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. He also could miss the fourth game against the Bears considering it’s a short week. The Saints, Eagles and Steelers all made the playoffs last season, of course, in combining for a 37-11 regular-season record.

The Bucs will have to make do with Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has a 48-70-1 record as a starter in 13 seasons.

As daunting as the the task looks, the Bucs aren’t waving the white flag.

“Jameis is the leader of our team E. J. Manuel Jersey ,” Bucs tight end Cameron Brate said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “It’s unfortunate for us that we’re going to be without him for the first three games. It’s not the way we want the season to start, without Jameis, but we have guys who are gonna step up and put us in a good spot to win some games.”

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — With the rehab behind him and the pain gone, three-time New York Giants Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is returning to the NFL with an even bigger target on his back, and an outspoken Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback ready to take a shot at him.

Beckham doesn’t mind. The NFL’s highest paid receiver can’t wait to play in a game for the first time since breaking his left ankle against the Chargers on Oct. 8.

Facing Jaguars All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is a plus. And Beckham insists there isn’t going to be a repeat of his Josh Norman debacle in 2016. The 25-year-old isn’t taking the bait this time.

When Beckham gets on the field on Sunday, it will all be about playing the game he loves again.

“I can’t stop thinking about it,” Beckham said Wednesday. “I’m at home Patrick Omameh Jersey , I’ll be in the middle of conversation, my mind doesn’t get off this game. It’s been a long time. There was a lot of hard work and preparation just to be able to get back to running and playing again. So, I’m excited. I’m real excited about this team and the opportunity we have in front of us.”

Beckham has come a long way since the injury, one that put his career in jeopardy more than most people know. It took him months to be able to run, and to watch the videotape of his injury in its entirety. He would watch and turn it off before the hit.

“I didn’t want to see it,” Beckham said. “It reminded me of Joe Prothro at Alabama, that gruesome (leg) injury (2010) that you just don’t want to see again. When it’s you, it’s even harder to watch Tony Gonzalez Jersey , because you can feel the pain receptors hit your brain and you can feel it all over again. Just being able to watch that video comfortably and just see.

“I can watch it now any time.”

During training camp, Beckham convinced the Giants he had returned to 100 percent and he was rewarded with a $95 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player at his position.

“I don’t think that the contract can do anymore for that target on my back,” Beckham said. “Inflicted by the world, inflicted by myself. That target has been on there since I came in, so I don’t know if a contract is going to help. That target increases and decreases. Guys have always wanted to hit me and be able to talk about it. It’s just the reality of where I’m at in life. It’s just something I’ve had to deal with.”

Going against Ramsey will be a challenge but it probably won’t be as personal as the one with Norman. The Redskins cornerback criticized Beckham before their 2016 game. Beckham drew three personal fouls in the contest and was suspended for a game.

He admits he was suckered in by all the pre-game trash talk.

“Yeah, but you took the cheese,” he said. “So, I can’t be mad at anything that happened. I bit on it Tyus Bowser Jersey , so it’s all good.”

Beckham actually developed a friendship working out with Ramsey in the offseason, and he says it is interesting they will be facing each other. Ramsey caused a stir during the summer by saying Beckham made the Giants go, not Eli Manning.

“He’s got all the intangibles,” Beckham said of Ramsey. “He’s athletic and he’s just good. Like I said, he’s just one of the best in the league. He does it all.”

Beckham has the same ability on the other side of the ball. He has 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns in 47 games. He is already tied for second among all-time Giants’ receivers with three 1,000-yard seasons. His 38 touchdown catches are the second most since entering NFL in 2014.

On a day when they made a trade to strengthen the back of their bullpen Adrian Phillips Jersey , the Oakland Athletics overcame their All-Star closer’s fourth blown save and kept their late-inning magic going.

In front of the largest crowd to watch a baseball game at the Coliseum, no less.

Jonathan Lucroy singled home Matt Chapman in the 11th inning to give the A’s a 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night.

”It looked like we were trying to give it to them a couple of times . so it was a very rewarding win,” Oakland manager Bob Melvin said. ”Lucroy was supposed to get a day off, and he’s the guy who ends up getting the hit.”

Hours after acquiring reliever Jeurys Familia from the New York Mets, the A’s improved to a major league-best 22-7 since June 16 with their third win in five games against their Northern California rivals.

The game between Bay Area foes drew 56,310 fans – the biggest crowd in the majors this season – as the Athletics celebrated their 1989 World Series championship with a pregame reunion that featured former stars such as Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley and Jose Canseco.

Oakland squandered a 3-2 lead in the ninth and wasted a bases-loaded opportunity in the bottom of the inning before winning on Lucroy’s second walk-off hit this season.

Will Smith (0-1) retired the first two A’s batters in the 11th before Chapman and Chad Pinder hit consecutive two-out singles. Lucroy, who entered as a defensive replacement in the 10th, lined a 1-2 pitch into left-center to score Chapman easily.

”It’s fun being on the field for that Ronnie Stanley Jersey ,” Lucroy said. ”Any time you get that energy from the crowd it really is a special time. I wish we could do that every night here because it’s a lot of fun.”

Chapman finished with three hits and Yusmeiro Petit (5-2) got three outs for the win.

The Giants tied the score in the ninth when Alen Hanson reached on a wild pitch after striking out against All-Star closer Blake Treinen and scored on Hunter Pence’s double that rolled into San Francisco’s bullpen down the right-field line.

Melvin asked for clarification for possible interference after replays showed right fielder Stephen Piscotty running into a chair held by Giants reliever Mark Melancon. After a short review, the call on the field was confirmed.

”It’s always been a little sketchy down there with the chairs being moved and guys sitting outside of that area,” Melvin said. ”I was looking for some sort of interference and the rule is unless it was intentional, you play it.”

Brandon Belt hit his 14th home run for San Francisco.

”What a comeback there in the ninth,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. ”But they found a way to win the game. Two outs with nobody on and they get a couple of ground balls to get through, then they get the big hit.”

Oakland led early after taking advantage of a historically wild night by Giants ace Madison Bumgarner.

The left-hander lasted four innings – his shortest stint in more than three years – and struggled with his command while issuing a career-high six walks. Four came in the fifth inning when Bumgarner failed to record an out, two with the bases loaded.

”I lost the feel in the fifth,” he said. ”Just couldn’t throw strikes.”

It was the first time in his career that Bumgarner walked in two runs and it ended a streak of 89 games in which he had gone five innings or more, which had been the longest active run in the majors.

Robert Griffin III is poised to resume his NFL career about 35 miles away from where he started it.

The former Washington Redskins quarterback has reached agreement on a 1-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, who love the idea of having the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner backing up 10-year starter Joe Flacco.

"Obviously, his personality, he's a confident guy. He's a very talented quarterback Shilique Calhoun Jersey ," coach John Harbaugh said of Griffin on Wednesday. "He's had a lot of success in this league early on. We're excited about it. We felt like we needed a No. 2 quarterback."

Griffin's last previous stop in an injury-riddled career came in 2016 with the Cleveland Browns. He started five games, winning only one of them.

General manager Ozzie Newsome said Griffin, 28, didn't have far to travel before showing the Ravens he can still fling the ball.

"He still lives in the D.C./Virginia area," Newsome said. "We were bringing in some receivers and we asked him if he would come in and throw and go through a full workout for us. He took a physical. He did all of that. After that, he went to visit another team. We just were able to come to an agreement."

The terms were finalized late Tuesday night, and Newsome expects RG3 to sign the contract next week.

"I feel like we got a steal," Harbaugh said. "I felt like (Griffin) really wanted to be here. He really wanted to be a Raven."

Griffin won the Heisman Trophy with Baylor before being selected second overall in the 2012 draft by the Redskins. He enjoyed a sensational rookie season, throwing 20 touchdown passes and only five interceptions DeVante Parker Jersey , but his career took a decisive downturn after he tore knee ligaments in a playoff loss to Seattle.

RG3 returned in 2013 but was benched after throwing 16 TD passes and 13 interceptions. The following season, a dislocated ankle limited his effectiveness.

Griffin missed the 2015 season after sustaining a concussion during the preseason. After being released by Washington, he signed with the Browns in 2016.

He started the opener, sustained a shoulder injury and was put in injured reserve the following Monday. Griffin returned to play the final four games and was the starting quarterback the last time the Browns won, against San Diego on Dec. 24, 2016.

A former defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of Alabama has been arrested on drug charges in Florida.

Pinellas County Jail records show 50-year-old Keith McCants was arrested early Monday near St. Petersburg. He's charged with a felony count of possession of crack cocaine and driving with a revoked or suspended license. He bonded out of jail Keith Tandy Jersey , but records don't list a lawyer.

Jail records show multiple arrests since 2010. His most recent arrest was in January, for driving with a suspended license. Court records show he faces a July 10 court date.

McCants made the All-America Team at Alabama and was selected fourth overall by the Buccaneers in the 1990 NFL Draft. His career ended in 1995. He also played for the Oilers and Cardinals.

The St. Louis Cardinals have struggled to get that one big hit they have needed recently, particularly during a three-game weekend sweep by Atlanta.

Yadier Molina came through early in a key situation, sparking the Cardinals to a play-from-ahead victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Molina hit a two-run single in the first inning and homered, helping the Cardinals end a four-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday night.

”Yadie comes through and he’s got a knack for that and has for a long time,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. ”Then the other guys just kept coming.”

The Cardinals played from behind most of their series against the Braves Shaq Mason Jersey , but jumped on the Diamondbacks early.

Molina hit a two-run single in the Cardinals’ four-run first inning against Robbie Ray (3-1) and hit his 12th homer off the Arizona left-hander in the sixth.

Jedd Gyorko also homered and had two RBIs to end Ray’s nine-game winning streak, dating to last season.

Martinez (5-4) allowed two runs on six hits and lined a double. Bud Norris worked a perfect ninth for his 16th save in 18 chances.

”We really wanted to come here and win the first one,” Molina said. ”We had a good plan against their pitcher and we executed it.”

Paul Goldschmidt had four hits and an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who were not able to overcome the early deficit for their fourth straight loss.

”We got too far behind too early to play catch up,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said.

Martinez snapped a three-game losing streak his last start, holding Cleveland to two runs on six hits in six innings. The right-hander was staked to a four-run lead before taking the mound and gave up Jake Lamb’s run-scoring single in the bottom half.

Goldschmidt lined a run-scoring single in the fifth inning off Martinez Elandon Roberts Jersey , who struck out seven.

”We talk about being sharp in the first inning and I thought he was,” Matheny said. ”He still had a couple things happen in a hurry, but he did a great job of limiting the damage.”

Ray returned from the DL (strained right oblique) to throw six scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over Miami on Wednesday.

The Arizona left-hander had a shaky start to his second post-DL outing, allowing four runs on five hits in the first inning.

Ray struck out six while retiring 12 of the next 13 hitters before Molina and Gyorko connected on consecutive solo homers to put the Cardinals up 6-2 in the sixth inning.

Ray allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings in his 100th career appearance.

””I felt like I was making my pitches,” Ray said. ”They were just putting good swings on them.”

LOVULLO AND MOLINA

Lovullo and Molina nearly came to blows the last time their teams met in April after the Diamondbacks manager uttered a profanity Molina thought was directed at him while arguing with an umpire. Molina charged Lovullo during the argument and both were suspended a game for their actions.

Lovullo said the profanity was not directed at Molina after the April game and met with the Cardinals catcher during batting practice on Monday to patch things up.

”Everything is in the past,” Molina said. ”I have a bunch of respect for him and the organization Clay Matthews Jersey , so everything is good.”

POLLOCK RETURNS

The Diamondbacks got a huge boost before the game, when center fielder A.J. Pollock was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list. The former All-Star had been out since May 14 with a broken left thumb and wasn’t expected to be back so soon, but was in the lineup batting fourth.

Pollock finished 0 for 4 and scored a run.

CARDINALS MOVES

The Cardinals place OF Dexter Fowler on paternity leave so he could be with his wife, Aliya, for the birth of their second child. St. Louis recalled rookie OF Tyler O’Neill from Triple-A Memphis to fill his roster spot. O’Neill started in right field and batted third, going 1 for 4.

Sidney Crosby saw Jakub Voracek’s glove on the ice and wasn’t going to let his opponent pick it up easily.

Crosby pushed the glove away with his stick and reignited a melee in a good Cameron Erving Jersey , old-fashioned Pittsburgh-Philadelphia playoff game that featured three fights, way more scrums and 158 penalty minutes. When Crosby was asked afterward why he did it, the Penguins captain responded: ”I don’t like them. I don’t like any guy on their team.”

Those were the days.

”It was awesome,” then-Penguins general manager Ray Shero said. ”If you look at it, it was wild. It really was. You had villains on both sides and people that hated each other.”

That was six years ago. Is a rivalry still a rivalry in a league that has made a concerted effort against over-the-top hits and where fighting is truly a rare sight?

NHL executive Colin Campbell once famously said the league sells hate, and at no time is hate more widely bought, sold, distributed and celebrated than during the Stanley Cup playoffs. The NHL’s divisional playoff format was brought back specifically to ignite old rivalries and create new ones, which has been a successful venture even if hate looks different than it did in the days of the ”Broad Street Bullies.” Playoff rivalries are no longer about dropping the gloves or laying out bone-crushing hits.

Teams now play fewer regular-season games against each other and are made up of more skilled players and fewer enforcers. Still Andre Reed Jersey , thanks to how tight the league is and the volcanic snowball effect of what a playoff series does to hockey players and coaches, rivalries might have a different look but they have plenty of smoldering intensity.

”Playing against teams with high stakes when there’s a lot on the line – win or go home – that’s how you have rivalries,” veteran New Jersey Devils center Brian Boyle said. ”When it’s us or it’s them, that’s how you find those rivalries. The same guys for two weeks, I think that’s how you build them.”

The first round in the Eastern Conference this year already has two old-school rivalries with the Penguins and Flyers meeting in the playoffs for the first time since their epic 2012 showdown, and Boston facing Toronto for the first time since 2013. In the West, Minnesota faces Winnipeg in the first playoff series between the two division rivals, which could heat up fast.

”The best thing about most of them are is the proximity to where they live, the close ones Charles Harris Jersey , but I think it needs a good playoff (series) against that individual team to create the rivalry full hand,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. ”Until you play seven games in 14 nights where you learn to hate the opposition.”

Playoff series in back-to-back years made the Penguins and Washington dislike each other plenty, and they’d meet again in the second round if they advance this year. Nashville and Anaheim developed a nontraditional rivalry with intense series the past two playoffs, making that a potentially combustible Western Conference final.

When Predators players think about those Ducks series and other tense ones over the past several years, they know there haven’t been a lot of fights – and they’re not alone. The past four playoffs have included a total of 39 fights. There were 46 fights in the 1978 postseason alone and an incredible 85 in the 1988 playoffs.

”You get the odd scrum that turns into a fight and stuff like that, but there’s not too much fighting left,” Nashville defenseman Ryan Ellis said. ”You probably see the amount of blocked shots go up in the playoffs, the amount of hits – the little things that may not be on the stat sheet is kind of what I guess gets your team through the playoffs. It’s just little things like that that really is the playoff intensity.”

Boyle, who has blocked 113 shots in 106 career playoff games Jonathan Cooper Jersey , has seen more fights in blowout games deep into a series than at other times because there’s too much at stake to take a retaliatory penalty.

”A lot of times you see a lot of other guys turn the other cheek in a playoff series,” Boyle said. ”You don’t want something like that to make a difference in a series.”

Making a difference is more about scoring a big goal than leveling a big hit or punching someone in the face. Look at the Penguins’ and Flyers’ rosters now and the likes of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Voracek and Claude Giroux are far more likely to beat someone with a slick shot than their fists.

”I think the game has changed in how it’s being played out there,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said. ”I think personnel has changed. But I think rivalries are rivalries. There’s always a heightened emotion associated with the games.”

So much so that retired player and former Penguins coach Ed Olczyk said of Penguins-Flyers, ”It only takes one player, one comment from somebody, where all bets are off and that gasoline tank will be ignited fairly quickly.” Crosby recalls more fights between the teams in the past – he was involved in two six years ago in the game he swatted Voracek’s glove away – but doesn’t want to downplay the intensity of this rivalry.

”You never know what can happen Elandon Roberts Jersey ,” Crosby said. ”I feel like both teams are always kind of at their best, and there’s always a little bit extra in those games.”

Capitals defenseman John Carlson said he thinks playoff rivalries have gotten worse more because of what players can get away with, the physical toll ga The Denver Broncos held linebacker Shane Ray out of workouts Monday due to a sore wrist.

Ray broke his left wrist in July and underwent three surgeries that caused him to miss the opening six games in 2017. He had one sack over the next eight contests before going back on injured reserve.

Denver coach Vance Joseph said Ray's wrist was irritated and the team is "taking it slow. Just being smart with guys. It's the spring."

Absent from the optional workouts were players such as pass rusher Von Miller, along with receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. Joseph wasn't concerned with their absence, saying, "they've been here all year. We're good. We coached the guys who were here today."

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Alex Smith is frustrating Josh Norman.

Norman likes having Smith with the Washington Redskins, but practice time against the veteran quarterback at training camp hasn’t been as beneficial as the big-money cornerback had hoped. That’s because Smith has been so on-point with his decision-making and throws that Norman isn’t getting a whole lot of work in team drills.

”You’re in great position, you get there top of the route, you’re ready for your play to be made and it doesn’t come,” Norman said. ”But the ones you are a little step behind on and you’re almost there to make it Marshal Yanda Jersey , he throws it. It’s those games, cat and mouse, man. It’s cat-and-mouse games that it just sucks when you’re the mouse.”

Norman feels like the mouse early in camp but hopes facing a QB like Smith each day benefits him in the long run. Entering the third season of a $75 million, five-year contract, Norman is balancing the lack of work he’s getting during 11-on-11 time with his usual half-hour plus of individual drills after practice as one of the last players on the field.

”That’s what you’ve got to do to be the best, to be great like him,” said undrafted rookie safety Quin Blanding, who worked out with Norman following practice Sunday. ”It just shows he wants extra work no matter all the work he’s done in practice. It’s always find ways to get better Bryan Anger Jersey , and that’s what he’s doing.”

Norman is known for his post-practice regimen, whether it’s going for jump balls or catching in rapid succession out of a JUGS machine. But none of that compares to team snaps, where Smith is avoiding Norman the way he would in a real game.

”I’m just staying the course and trying to understand that your technique is not flawed, continue to do what you do even though your chances are not coming,” Norman said. ”But when they do come, try to be better than the quarterback in making a play. He’s so precise right now, so he’s not making mistakes, and that’s the biggest thing you’ve seen. Even in practice Jeff Locke Jersey , he’s not making mistakes. It’s hard to try to key in on that.”

Coach Jay Gruden approves. His offense is built around quick decisions and finding the right receiver to throw to, and that’s not usually by challenging Norman.

”Josh is getting plenty of work,” Gruden said Tuesday. ”We’re not going to throw a flat route out to Josh Norman and let him pick it. That’s just common sense, so Josh is going to have to wait for somebody else to throw it to him.”

Norman is still isolating elements of his game to work on at age 30, going into his seventh NFL season. He had no interceptions last year and dropped more than a handful of prime opportunities, so at practice he’s working on the little things that turn a broken-up pass into a pick.

”Being in place is the first part, but finishing the ball should be something that already is established and ingrained in you,” Norman said. ”It’s just that six inches from making a play to not making a play.”

Trying to close the gap on those inches is what goes into Norman’s extra work after practice. And in the process Rayshawn Jenkins Jersey , he’s helping young defensive backs like Blanding and Kenny Ladler develop the same kind of habits.

”You fix the mistakes and then when it comes again, you don’t make the same mistake,” Blanding said. ”You’ve got to be ready to work no matter if it feels like a great day of practice or if it was a bad day of practice. You’ve got to put that aside and you’ve just got to work. You’ve got to keep on working, and that’s what he does.”

Blake Martinez gathered his fellow inside linebackers together after a tough day at Green Bay Packers practice.

It's difficult to see two key members of the defense go down with injuries on just the fourth day of training camp.

Inside linebacker Jake Ryan Sammy Watkins Jersey , one of the team's top run defenders, was carted off the field late in practice Monday with an apparent right leg injury. Kentrell Brice, a potential starter at safety, was carted off the field during a special teams drill, though the type of injury was unclear.

"Oh, man. That was bad, man. You hate to see that, especially as a player. That's your brother," safety Josh Jones said when asked about Brice.

Practice ended up being cut short early because of the threat of lightning. The injuries dampened the mood in the locker room.

Back inside Lambeau Field Kyle Murphy Jersey , Martinez gathered the rest of his position group together. Martinez (158) and Ryan (89) led the team in tackles last season.

After third-year pro Martinez and Ryan, who is in his fourth year, rookies fill the inside linebacker depth chart. Martinez called a position meeting to get everyone refocused.

"It just comes down to 'What are we going to do now?'" Martinez said in recounting his message. "Or whatever your mindset is, what are you going to do to get better every day?"

Oren Burks, a third-round draft pick out of Vanderbilt, might play a bigger role if Ryan misses significant time. Burks played inside linebacker in college last season after taking on a hybrid linebacker/safety role as a junior. He played free safety as a sophomore.

The Packers are also making changes on defense after Mike Pettine replaced Dom Capers as coordinator. Martinez said that he'll be checking on the rookies constantly to make sure they are up to speed.

"I know my goals for this season, our team goals for this season and I'm not going to let one injury kind of ruin that for us," he said.

Brice appeared in line to take a starting job at safety following the offseason departure of veteran Morgan Burnett, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent. Brice played six games with three starts last year before going on injured reserve with an ankle injury on Nov. 3. He played in all 16 games with one start as a rookie.

Coach Mike McCarthy likes Brice for his positional versatility Colin Kaepernick Jersey , a trait that has become more important on defenses to help keep up with expanding passing attacks. The Packers are still deep at safety, where promising second-year player Jones might get more snaps if Brice misses a lot of time.

The defense must move on, as hard as that might be to do after a trying day.

"It's kind of tough. You just do it because it's part of your job. But in the back of your head, it's always there though," said cornerback Demetri Goodson, who came back from a serious knee injury earlier in his career.

Julio Jones was willing to pay $84,435 to not work out with Matt Ryan at the Falcons minicamp this week.

But apparently he has no problem with going somewhere else, presumably on his own dime, to work out with him.

Via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com Stephon Gilmore Jersey , the Falcons quarterback said he expects Jones to be at the private workouts he has conducted pre-training camp.

They’ve generally gone to South Florida but Ryan didn’t reveal details of the trip, but made it clear he hoped to see his top wideout, who has stayed away from Falcons workouts while hoping for an upgraded contract.

“There’s probably about 12 of us that are going to get together in the month of July, and he’ll certainly be a part of that,” Ryan said. “We’ll have an extended period where we get some work together. You know, that’s something that we’ve done in the past. The past couple of years, we were down in Miami.

“This year is a little bit later due to kind of my offseason, but we’ll still have that chance to work together. And I think that will be really productive for us.”

Ryan just became the father to twins, so he pushed the passing camp back later in the offseason. The quarterback also downplayed the time it would take to catch Jones up on the changes to the offense this year Matt Bryant Jersey , as second-year coordinator Steve Sarkisian has tweaked some things.

“I don’t think that will be difficult,” Ryan said. “He’s such an incredible player, such a talented player. And he’s been working hard. He’s in great shape. I think he’ll pick those new things up really quickly. And he’s got a lot of time on task with 95 percent of our system. So, he knows this system inside and out. He’s always extremely well-prepared. And I’m confident and positive he’ll be ready to go.”

Jones has three years and $35 million left on his old contract, but other recent deals in the wide receiver market have made his shrink in comparison.

The NFL is a professional sports league with a wide variety of talents ranging from big-name prospects to sub-par draft busts. But that's one of the many qualities that makes the NFL a unique Kyle Wilber Jersey , prosperous league that will continue to grow in popularity, despite the backlash and controversy surrounding the National Anthem protests on the field. Of course, I'm not going to dive into politics because I'm not a political analyst or anything of that sort, but I'm just putting the obvious facts out there for y'all to see.

There are some NFL players that were literally handed early exits by the league. Then there are other NFL players who somehow managed to stick around for an extended period of time. And, the latter eventually decided to retire, which was probably the right decision for the man. However, some of those guys in the latter haven't announced their retirements to the general public yet. So football fans from all walks of life may not even know that a player hasn't already hung up his cleats and walked away from the game, which shouldn't come as a surprise because not every football fan is a die-hard fanatic who knows the full name of every single player and coach that has ever walked onto a field for a heavily competitive NFL game between two pro teams.

Here are 20 NFL players fans didn't realize haven't retired yet. As always Malcolm Mitchell Jersey , feel free to share your opinions in the comments section. Enjoy my list-based article!

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jacoby Brissett views Thursday night’s preseason finale a little differently than everyone else.

He considers this seemingly meaningless game his golden ticket.

With Andrew Luck’s work finished, Brissett is expected to make his first and possibly final start of the season at Cincinnati. And if all goes well for the Indianapolis Colts, Brissett may not even throw another official pass this year.

So for the third-year quarterback who started 15 games last season, this is more than a final tuneup — it’s a chance to show everyone how much he’s learned over the past 8½ months.

“I’ll prepare for Thursday’s game like I was starting in the Super Bowl,” he said.

Of course, Brissett takes his job seriously.

How else would a youngster manage to catch the attention of Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, win the starting job at North Carolina State, convince Bill Belichick to select him in the third round of the 2016 draft and become a full-time starter in his second NFL season?

The 6-foot-4 Demarcus Robinson Jersey , 235-pound strong-armed Florida native performed admirably in place of Luck, who missed all of 2017 following surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Brissett learned the playbook on the fly after being acquired in a cutdown weekend trade with New England, replaced Scott Tolzien as the starter in Week 2 and kept the job for the rest of the season.

His overall numbers — 276 of 469 with 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions— were solid considering he was sacked a league-high 52 times and he helped put the Colts in position to win several games.

But the Colts blew seven second-half leads, finished 4-12 and missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season.

Now, after backing up Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo as a rookie and being pressed into service last season, Brissett finds himself holding the No. 2 spot on the depth chart as Luck returns.

Through three games Ronnie Stanley Jersey , Brissett’s quarterback rating is actually better than Luck’s. Brissett is 27 of 44 with 327 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions for a rating of 84.2. Luck has a rating of 78.1 with one TD pass and one interception.

Brissett is expected to play at least a half against Cincinnati and sounds more confident and comfortable now that he’s had a whole offseason to learn his third offense. After Thursday, though, his playing time will be determined largely by Luck’s health.

“It’s a totally different feeling, it feels good to be familiar with what you’re going into the season with,” Brissett said before turning his attention to this week’s game.

“It’s another opportunity to play in the NFL and it’s a treat every time you step out on the field. I’m going to go out there and try to win a football game.”

At least Brissett can focus on fine-tuning his game.

Most of the other players suiting up Thursday, including Phillip Walker, are vying for one of the 53 spots on Indy’s roster — or at least are trying to impress enough scouts to get a shot with another team.

Walker certainly will get his chances as Indy’s only other healthy quarterback with Brad Kaaya on injured reserve. Walker is expected to take the remaining snaps once Brissett departs.

“You just have to take the mindset that nothing is going to keep me from my dream, that I believe that what I put on tape and what I put on the field is good enough for this team Patrick Omameh Jersey , for the team that I am playing for at the time and if it’s not then I am going to take it somewhere else,” Colts coach Frank Reich said, referring to his own mindset when he was as an NFL quarterback.

Two other teams reportedly saw enough from Brissett last season to make trade inquiries.

But with Brissett still on his rookie deal this season and next, Luck dealing with a minor foot injury and questions about whether Luck’s shoulder will make it through a 16-game season, the Colts are content to keep Brissett so he can continue developing.

And as the final preseason game approaches, Brissett intends to take full advantage of the remaining opportunities.

“It grows on you and it’s been fun to learn and just get better,” Brissett said when asked about the Colts’ new offense. “It’s football.”

Notes: The Colts have signed linebacker Brandon Chubb and waived running back Tion Green.

The New York Jets have signed linebacker Avery Williamson to a three-year contract worth $22.5 million.

Williamson spent his first four NFL seasons with Tennessee and led the Titans in tackles in two of those years.

It appears the 26-year-old Williamson will be a replacement at inside linebacker for Demario Davis Seahawks Shaquem Griffin Jersey , who led the Jets in tackles last season with a career season but is 29 and a free agent.

Instead, New York went with the younger Williamson, who has 11 sacks and 377 tackles with two interceptions and three forced fumbles. He’ll likely combine with Darron Lee to man the middle of the Jets’ linebacker group.

Williamson was a fifth-round pick out of Kentucky in the 2014 draft. He became a starter for the Titans early in his rookie season and became a consistent playmaker during his four years with the team.

The ink was barely dry on his contract when Ryan Donato played his first professional game.

Three days after his junior season at Harvard ended, Donato joined the Boston Bruins‘ lineup in the middle of a playoff chase in a top-six role with a spot on the power play.

No pressure, kid.

”I definitely had to learn quickly,” Donato said. ”Every game is important, so it had to click right away. I really didn’t have a choice.”

Such is the task for Donato and a handful of other young prospects joining contenders in the eleventh hour of the NHL season. It has become common for teams with no postseason hopes to sign players out of school and play them late in the regular season like Vancouver did with Brock Boeser and Arizona with Clayton Keller a year ago.

This season, some top teams are taking the chance, too.

Just as the Bruins added Donato Authentic Mark Andrews Jersey , Minnesota signed Jordan Greenway after his season at Boston University, Anaheim signed Troy Terry after the University of Denver was out of the NCAA Tournament and Nashville brought over Eeli Tolvanen from Europe after a full year in the Kontinental Hockey League – young talent added for the playoffs without the teams giving up anything, though coaches must now integrate a new player late in the season.

”It’s tough if the kids aren’t good,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. ”With our team right now in the midst of this race, every little defensive situation has got to be done right.”

Every shift is magnified this time of year, adding to the burden of trying to learn a team’s system. Donato, Greenway and Terry went right from college to the NHL, and Tolvanen had to adjust on the fly from the wider, European ice as Nashville tries to shore up home ice throughout the playoffs.

”It’s kind of tough to come in the middle of the season and just jump in and you don’t know all the guys Terrell Edmunds Jersey ,” Tolvanen said. ”You have to do it at some point, so I think it’s a pretty good spot that I came a couple games before the playoffs.”

Tolvanen benefited from two rounds of KHL playoffs with Jokerit and carried that intensity across the pond, while Terry and Greenway got a taste of playoff action in the NCAA Tournament. Donato’s season playing for his dad and former NHL forward Ted ended, and he suddenly had to ramp things up to carry a big load for Boston amid injuries to Rick Nash and others.

Donato knew he couldn’t take a shift or a game off and has stepped up with seven points in his first nine games. Coach Bruce Cassidy wasn’t worried about getting the soon-to-be 22-year-old up to speed as much as seeing if Donato could handle the size, speed and pace of the NHL.

”Most of these kids that come in are offensive-minded guys, so are they going to be able to make their plays and handle a man’s game?” Cassidy said. ”And he’s shown he’s able to do that.”

Donato certainly had a body of work coming in, including leading the United States and tying for the tournament lead with five goals at the Olympics without NHL players. The other three young, late-season additions – all of whom also stood out at the Olympics – are being eased in.

”We didn’t really do anything at the trade deadline because we knew that we were going to get Jordan Greenway,” Boudreau said. ”He’s gone through the Olympics and the world juniors all in the last year Cody Bellinger Jersey , so he knows what a little bit of pressure is all about. Playing at BU, he’s always (on) one of the better teams playing in important games. We pretty well thought he could handle all this.”

Nashville is betting Tolvanen can handle it, too. The impressive Finnish winger set a KHL record with 36 points as an 18-year-old and looked increasingly more comfortable in his first three games for the Predators, who have their sights set on a return trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

”It’s important for him to see ice time before the playoffs,” coach Peter Laviolette said. ”The playoffs are a long haul. I think we learned that last year that you need a lot of people and a lot of parts and it’s important to get him involved in the game, with the team, in the systems.”

Predators general manager David Poile recalled making one trade too many at a previous deadline and messing with his team’s chemistry.

”You have to be careful on both sides because you don’t want to put a young player in a position to fail,” Poile said. ”You want to put him in a position to succeed. You also are very respectful of the players that have been with you all season long. It’s also OK to have depth but you don’t want to move everybody’s cheese too much.”

In Boston, it helps that Donato is filling a spot vacated by injuries and showing immediately he belongs. In Nashville Marquis Haynes Color Rush Jersey , Tolvanen’s reputation preceded him for anyone who saw what he did as one of the leading scorers at the Olympics.

”It’s a special situation when somebody comes in this late and joins the team and under different circumstances, but it’s been great,” starting goaltender and fellow Finn Pekka Rinne said. ”Certainly it adds a new, special element to our team. I think it’s going to be beneficial down the road.”

The massive football stadium complex at Hollywood Park is currently a bustling construction site. The $2.6 billion project won't welcome fans through its doors for another two years.

But the Rams and the Chargers are eager to show you to your seat.

Los Angeles' two NFL teams will begin selling season ticket memberships for their new stadium for the first time next week. Both will start with only their premium seating http://www.cowboysauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dorance-armstrong-jr.-jersey , offering an array of privileges and amenities befitting the sizable price tags for the best 13,000-odd seats in what could be the most expensive arena in the world.

With relocation fading into memory after a pair of winning seasons in LA, both franchises are eager to move into the bright future promised by the palatial project rising in Inglewood. The 70,240-seat arena will also host the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff title game and Olympic events in its first decade of existence after it opens in 2020.

"This has been a long time coming," said A.G. Spanos, the Chargers' president of business operations. "When I was at USC, we were talking about a new stadium in LA back then. This has been a slow pot to boil in Los Angeles, but the future is here. This venue is incredibly exciting."

In an office building in coastal Playa Vista, the teams will begin showing off the project to their fans on Tuesday, starting with visits from many current season ticket holders for both clubs. The sleek LA Stadium Premiere Center features detailed scale models, video hype reels and a staff with carefully curated sales pitches for the privately financed project spearheaded by Rams owner Stan Kroenke.

"It's exciting when you fly in and you see the steel coming out of the ground, or when you drive up and you see the stadium starting to take shape," Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff said. "And now this is the first chance the fans really get to participate in being part of the stadium and seeing Stan's vision come to life."

The Rams and Chargers have also unveiled the first prices for tickets 鈥?and the prices for the stadium seat licenses that provide the opportunity to buy tickets.

Instead of selling the now-ubiquitous personal seat licenses Zack Martin Jersey Elite , with which fans pay a sometimes-hefty fee for the opportunity to buy their tickets, the Chargers and Rams are selling a similar concept with a similar name, but one big difference: For the first time in NFL stadium history, that money will be returned to the fans 鈥?albeit in 50 years.

Instead of the naked cash grab of a PSL, the SSL is essentially an interest-free loan to finance the stadium construction. The structure also allows both the teams and the fans to avoid paying taxes on the licenses.

"We really feel like they are making an investment, and they're a shareholder in the team and the stadium project," Demoff said. "For us, rather than fan money going to taxes, it can go directly to the construction of the building. It builds a better building, and it requires no taxpayer money to do so. It's a unique concept that we expect will be replicated from here on out."

The Rams' stadium seat licenses will begin at $100,000 for the stadium's 500 "all-access" seats, located in two sections on either end of the 50-yard line. The Chargers' SSLs will be $75,000 for the same seats, which include food and beverages Jeremy Kerley Color Rush Jersey , access to clubs, special parking and the guaranteed opportunity to buy tickets to the Super Bowl and every other event controlled by the stadium owners.

Those prices are higher than the most top PSLs for many recent NFL stadiums, but significantly lower than the reported $150,000 charged by the Dallas Cowboys for their top seats at AT&T Stadium, which opened in 2009. The 49ers charged $80,000 for the PSLs for the top 1,000 seats at Levis Stadium, which opened in 2014.

The Rams' remaining SSLs for the premium seats range from $80,000 to $15,000, with most falling in the lower category for club seats. The Chargers' other SSLs range from $50,000 to $10,000.

The Rams and Chargers are confident the structure will help as they persuade fans to pay for the licenses while knowing they'll get all the money back in 2068 鈥?or at least their heirs will.

Once the SSL is purchased, the Rams' tickets for those premium seats are $375 per game Zack Martin Cowboys Jersey , and the Chargers' are $350.

Both teams obviously will sell the other three-quarters of the stadium at much lower prices, and the ticket prices won't change during the stadium's first three years.

"It's very hard to compete at the highest level if you don't have a first-class facility, and that's something that our family has been working toward for a long time," said John Spanos, the Chargers' president of football operations. "We're excited that it's here soon."

German Marquez, like the Colorado Rockies, has been much better on the road than at home this season.

The right-hander will try to pitch the Rockies to another road series win on Thursday afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies. Vince Velasquez will start for the Phillies in the rubber match of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.

Marquez (4-6, 4.79 ERA) has a 7.71 ERA in seven home starts and opponents have a .989 OPS against him at hitter-friendly Coors Field. In six starts on the road, however, Marquez owns a 2.06 ERA, 1.086 WHIP and an .606 opponent on-base-plus-slugging percentage.

Marquez is coming off an especially bad home outing. He gave up three home runs in the third inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks (one each for Paul Goldschmidt, Jake Lamb and David Peralta) last Friday and was charged with five runs in four innings of work.

“The pitches were up,” Colorado manager Bud Black told mlb.com of Marquez. “You look at the inning he gave up three homers … those are pitches that hitters can elevate. If they square them up, they’re going to go out of the park.”

Marquez Cheap Lamar Jackson Jersey , 23, has faced the Phillies once. He earned a win by allowing just one run in six innings on May 23, 2017, at Citizens Bank Park.

The Rockies improved their road record to 22-15 with an 7-2 win on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. However, Colorado (33-34) is still under .500 because the team is 11-19 at home.

The Phillies have won 21 of their 33 home games but need a win on Thursday to finish 3-3 on their six-game homestand. Gabe Kapler’s team is 3-8 in June and has not won a series in three weeks.

Velasquez (4-7, 4.95 ERA) pitched in the Phillies’ first game of the homestand, and he had one of the worst starts of his career. The 26-year-old gave up a career-high 10 runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last Friday. Velasquez’s season ERA jumped up by more than a run in the brief outing.

“When he came out, the velocity was down a little bit,” Kapler told mlb.com after Velasquez’s last start. “The stuff didn’t quite look crisp coming out of his hand. We were talking about it on the bench and wondering if he just wasn’t going to have his stuff.”

Velasquez is 1-0 with a 4.35 ERA in four career starts against the Rockies. He has 23 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings against the team.

Velasquez will have to deal with a red-hot Trevor Story on Thursday. Colorado’s shortstop extended his hitting streak to seven games on Wednesday night with a 3-for-5 performance that featured two doubles and two RBIs.

Story has had five straight multi-hit games and is hitting .467 during the seven-game streak. The third-year major leaguer has raised his batting average by 27 points and his OPS by 68 points in the last week.
